A message from our director

Cancer is not simply a medical crisis — it is a failure of political will. We have the science. What the world needs now is the courage to act on it.

Professor Richard Sullivan

Director, Institute of Cancer Policy · Professor of Cancer and Global Health, King's College London

Richard's research spans global cancer policy, health systems in conflict settings, and access to cancer care in low- and middle-income countries. He has led Lancet Commissions on global surgery, childhood cancer, and cancer care in Latin America, and advises the WHO, Save the Children, and the National Cancer Grid of India.

Low- and middle-income countries

Taking cancer policy where it's needed most

More than 70% of cancer deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, yet most cancer research and policy expertise remains concentrated in the Global North. Our field programmes work directly with health ministries, clinicians, and communities to build systems that last.
